In an effort to re-establish Continental Amateur Baseball Association (CABA) into the Great Plains region CABA OKLAHOMA and CABA will be contacting youth baseball parks/organizations within and outside of the region. To encourage participation from youth teams and leagues we have made it very easy and affordable to participate and have some of your 10yr, 12yr, 13yr. & 15yr. old teams qualify on to these 2009 CABA national open and world series tournaments being held at the 10 field baseball complex in Obrien Park Tulsa, Oklahoma and Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow, OK. This is an opportunity to establish 4 more world series in the Great Plains area as well as letting the 12 yr. -13 yr. & 15yr. old kids experience the unique play of wood bats. 13 yr. old division will play regular 13yr. field dimensions of 54'/80. 15yr. old will play 60'/90' at one of the nicest high school complex's in the state complete with a huge 20,000 sq. ft. indoor facility.

TO HOST OR QUALIFY FOR A 2009 CABA NATIONAL OPEN or WORLD SERIES:

1.) LEAGUE OFFICIALS: Your 2009 "League Champions & 2nd place teams" can recieve "automatic national open / world series berths" straight thru CABA league play in your park / league, simply by registering those spots in the particular age group(s). Team registration is just $25.00 per. This is a good way to help teams that play league in your park have another avenue to a national tournament as well as jazz up regular league play.

2.) HOST A QUALIFYING TOUNAMENT(S): Tournament Champions and 2nd place teams can recieve "automatic national open / world series berths" thru the CABA qualifying tournament(s). There is no "tournament host fee" charged for 2009. Participating teams only need to be registered with CABA. Once your requested date(s) are confirmed CABA OKLA. will not allow another qualifier on the same date(s) within a range that may hurt participation in your qualifier. You may register your regular "league tournament", pre-season or post season, as a CABA qualifier.

* Please know that we're not interested in 100 team events, just good ones. We want our tournament hosts to be responsive and to treat people like valuable customers and not cattle. Our teams matter to us and their opinions are listened to. We want to offer them quality facilities and an easy to get along with tournament staff. We would expect any tournament host to adhere to these principles.

3.) INDIVIDUAL TEAM MGRS. & COACHES - TO QUALIFY YOUR TEAM: (A) Place in a CABA qualifying tournament. (B) Place in the CABA State Tournament. (C) Place in your CABA registered league play. (D) If for some reason your league park chooses not to participate in CABA you still may register your own team. If you then finish 1st or 2nd in your regular league play your team will recieve an automatic berth into a open national or world series tournament. (E) CABA will reserve the right to extend automatic berths past the 2nd place finishing team if such teams are deemed deserving or other circumstances arise.

4.) "AT LARGE" BERTHS - FOR TOURNAMENT ONLY - NON LEAGUE TEAMS: The CABA National Office offers the opportunity to individual teams that our state directors inform us are World Series or National Open worthy through "at-large" berths. To make this fair to others, those that have qualified through CABA league play or tournament qualifiers, there is a premium charge and an examination of the credentials of the prospective team. In addition to the $25 national registration fee, teams seeking to participate "at large" in a World Series must pay an additional $175 . For participation in a National Open Championship, the fee is $75 in addition to the national registration fee.

INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD CONTACT CABA OKLAHOMA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO RESERVE YOUR QULIFYING TOURNAMENT DATE(S) OR TO REGISTER YOUR TEAM(S).

*12 yr, 13yr. and 15yr. old teams in league play and any qualifying tournaments for CABA “Wood Bat” World Series berths may use “metal” bats if they wish to do so. Though the 12 yr.-13yr. & 15yr. old CABA World Series will be "wood bat" only, wood / "composition" type bats are legal also for world series play.

GOLF FANS-ADDED BONUS: Obrien Park just opened a new golf course / teaching center with driving range next to the baseball complex - bring your clubs! Club house (918)-591-6047.

WHY HIT WITH WOOD?
Oklahomas' top high school teams, as well as many college programs, hit with wood bats in summer and fall leagues, plus the off-season, to prepare and better their players for spring season and, for some, the next level. Owasso, Broken Arrow, Union, Jenks, Sperry, Claremore, Bishop Kelley to name just a few State Champion programs that hit with wood- a lot. Wood bats have re-established their importance for the serious baseball player and top programs. The sooner the youth player/teams make a move to some wood bat play only the better they can get. Also, your pitching staff just got better - you'll see fewer bush league, flare type hits in a wood bat game. Plus it's hard to beat an ol' wood bat ball game for a change of pace.
